MIRACLES DO HAPPEN: 2 GOOD STALLS SIDE BY SIDE

The last time I wrote about two bad food outlets situated next to each other, some feathers were apparently ruffled.

Well, you must be a fowl to feel that way.

Anyway, the good news is, I discovered something in Alexandra Village.

Two good food joints situated next to each other in the same kopitiam.

De Burg's and Seasalt. The former, doesn't require much introduction. The latter, seems new to me since they weren't around during my last visit eons back, uses very fresh ingredients.

Lamb and pork burgers 4/5

Fish and chips 4/5

Mussels in pot 4.25/5

If you like the gamey smell of lamb, don't shy away from De Burg's lamb burger. Go for the 200g version.

Shiok.

GEYLANG BAN MIAN: IF YOU ARE PATIENT AND LIKE BAN MIAN

I had the opportunity to travel to the east side recently for an errand.

The Geylang Ban Mian was on the itinerary as well.

The chilli is nice and very similar to that offered by Qiulian Ban Mian in the mid-90s.

Some people like their ban mian soupy. Some like it dry.

I decided to go for the dry since I can have the soup on the side.

It smelt like Bovril the moment the bowl landed on the table 35 mins later.

Seriously, that beefy smell emanated from whatever sauce they used in that dark concoction.

But it didn't taste like Bovril.

4.1/5
The Geylang Ban Mian. Only if you are in the east and not pressed for time.

THE LEGENDARY WAH KEE PRAWN NOODLES IS BACK

The man is back.

The queue is as long as before.

The taste is unsurpassed as before.

Maybe my mom's version is slightly better ;P
